"Colby"

Image
I've discovered that for being a pet lover and having recently adopted a dog I only have one picture of him on my blog. Colby has blended well into our home and he just melts your heart. I cannot get enough of him. He still is not too sure about Dexter, the house cat, but it is getting better. Colby actually chased Dexter the other night instead of it being the other way around. So here are a few pictures of Colby and thanks for reading my blog.

Art work Friday #3....

Image
As the sun sets over the mountain in Orefield, PA I was lucky enough to have my camera with me. I pulled over so my daughter to get this shot. God is just amazing! Enjoy.....

Jewelry Thursday...

Here is another bracelet that I made. Again it is made with Swarovski crystals and sterling silver components. The colors for this bracelet are Tanzanite and Montana Blue. The clasp on this piece is a toggle style and heart shaped. All the pieces that I post on my blog are for sale. I am currently working an getting a website started and will send out the word when that is done. If you are interested in purchasing any of my pieces just send me an email to friendje@ptd.net.

Dexter...

Image
When Dexter sits on top of the refrigerator, like he is king of the mountain, he must be so relaxed that his tongue sticks out just a bit. It is too funny looking.

My friend Elsa...

Image
Elsa is a big old baby. She may be a Rottie. She may weigh 120 pounds. She may look at you like you are a snack. She may wear a prong collar but at the end of the day this sweet 3 year old Rottie is just a big old baby that thinks she is a lap dog. Elsa belongs to dear friends of mine that live here in Emmaus. I just happened to stop by as she was getting ready to go for a walk. For a big dog she is a well behaved, happy go lucky dog. Her owners have had Rottweiler's for many years.

Art Work Friday - #2

Image
My art work today is a bracelet I recently made. It is made of sterling silver rings and Swarovski Crystals. The colors remind me of the blue waters of the Caribbean. I already have ideas for other colors. All I need to do is make a pair of earrings to match. So check back in a couple of days.

Office cat

Image
Dexter, the house cat, has to be near his people. I was in our home office this morning and he jumped up on my desk so I had to stop what I was doing to pay attention to him. Since we welcomed our new dog in our home Dexter has become very jealous. It's only been 6 months since our house was pet free; how quickly he forgot that he has to share time with the humans in the house.

Refreshing smell of lavender

Image
This lavender plant is about 5 years old and blooms every year. The picture is last summers bloom. I cut it back in late fall and each year it seems to be bigger and bigger. Every time I walk by it I reach down and run my hand through it just to smell the fresh lavender.

Art Work Friday....Sunset

Image
I just love sunsets. Although I would have preferred to be sitting in my beach chair on Sanibel Island with my feet in the warm sand and watching the sun slowly set, oh stop dreaming and wake up it's 30 degrees outside. These pictures were taken this evening, Jan 14th as I was driving, yes driving, through our neighboring town of Macungie and Fogelsville. Yesterday was one of the best sunsets I've seen unfortunately I did not have the camera with me. There will be others. Hope you enjoy them!

Too much time on my hands...

Image
Here is "Dexter" the house cat sporting the dogs fleece coat. As you can imagine he was not too happy about it.

Summer's coming....

Image
The long lazy days of summer will be upon us before we know it. From late April until November we spend every weekend on our boat "Non-Cents" which we slip on the Sassafras River in Maryland. It is amazing the calmness the water has on you; waking up early and just listening to nature, the water lapping up against the boat. I can hear it now and it's 10 degrees outside but I know those sounds will be here soon enough. So if you are feeling yukky just think about those warm summer nights and the great sunsets, I know I do.

"Dexter"

Image
"Dexter" is my daughter's cat and they both reside with us in PA. He enjoys looking outside. This picture was taken while it was snowing and approaching dusk. The only other light was the window candle that was plugged in. I thought it was pretty cool looking. "Dexter" is a snow shoe Siamese cat that weighs about 18 pounds.

Fresh snow

This picture was taken in our back yard the morning of Dec 20th at approximately 7AM.

Our new addition to the family

Easter 2009 was not a good day for me as I had to make the decision of having my dog, KC, put to sleep. KC was a black and white shih tzu. We rescued him about 3 years earlier at the age of 9. Along with his age came a laundry list of health issues; one of them a heart murmur which is what took his life in the end. We had him to many specialists for his issues, including a behavioral vet for his "snarl, growl and bite" issue. That one was an easy fix with generic prozac. I would have never thought you could have a prescription filled for your pet at the local pharmacy. After that day I told myself there would be no more dogs and that lasted about 6 months. You see I've had pets all my life with the exception of about 5 years. So I turned to petfinder to rescue another little life. In early November 2009 we welcomed into our home Colby, a 2-3 year old shih tzu. We do not know anything about his past life only that he was pulled from the streets. He was matted, scared and v
