A challenge to all....

Image
We've all read about,we've all heard it on the news, and we have possibly seen it in our own neighborhoods.  People losing their jobs and homes.   Unfortunately it is not over as our economy struggles and companies struggle to keep their employees and there are many of us, myself included, that wish we did not have to see it take place.  People struggling to put food on their table for their families. The Soup Kitchens across the country struggling because their donations are down, the food banks that have shut their doors because their shelves are empty. So my challenge to you is this and very simple.   My family has decided that for the next 52 weeks we will set aside one non-perishable food item a week and 52 weeks from today, November 27, 2010 we will donate our collection of non-perishable items to a local food bank. Don't think you can do this but would like to try, then think smaller, maybe every other week or once a month.  Think about all the unused...

Yet another new hobby....

Sewing, I really did not like it in school and never pursued it; that is until now. Since the pet industry is selling billions and billions every year I thought I would try join in on some of that cash.  So I am now attempting to make simple pet stuff. We are starting off with pet bandannas.  Not just cutting the material with pinking shears; we are doing two-sided ones.  A print on one side and plain on the other and then sewing velcro on so it is easier to put on and off.  My daughter, Jennifer, tells me she is going to assist me.  We shall see since she has never sewn before.  So in our first attempt to make a scarf Dexter was feeling like he needed to assist.... Okay let me get the material positioned just right..... Mom can you reach the pedal for me.... my finished project.  Don't I look so darn cute...

Happy ending....

While my daughter and I were out running errands yesterday we came across a small dog wondering the streets of our local town.  After realizing there were no humans following this dog that we were watching in our rear-view mirror we diverted off course and headed back to track the dog.  Luckily we were able to catch it without anyone getting bit.  We drove around the area we found her unable to find her owner.  We returned home to place her in Dexter's crate for a short time.  Calling the non-emergency police number to leave a message, calling the local humane society to leave a message and of course placing an ad on Craigslist we then returned to our destination.  Lucky for the dog her owner also called the non-emergency police number to report their dog was missing and about an hour later everyone was happily reunited.  Sad story though.  The dog recently lost her best friend, the owner's wife, and was out looking for her.  Here is a ...

Kitty in the wash basket.  Not sure what he wanted but he seemed happy.... that all changed for whatever reason; take note of the ears.  It looks like he is ready to attack, I'm just not sure what he was going to attack.... then it was time for a little sun and a nap.
